29 June 2026

Volvo Group recalls certain Volvo XC40 model vehicles.

The high voltage battery in your vehicle may have a manufacturing defect, which could potentially cause the battery cells to overheat when the high voltage battery is fully charged.  In the worst-case scenario, a battery fire may develop when your vehicle is parked up with a fully charged battery.  There is no risk of fire whilst the vehicle is being driven.  Once the vehicle is received by a Volvo retailer we will analyse the battery pack, and replace any defective modules.  New software will then be installed which will continuously monitor the battery module performance.  Even if no defective modules are identified, the new software will be downloaded to the vehicle.

There are 415 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 12 March 2019 and 06 December 2021.
