Renault Ireland Limited recalls certain Renault passenger vehicles

16 September 2025

Renault Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Renault Scenic, Megane passenger vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby the position sensor of the parking brake actuator is positioned at the wrong angle. As a result, the actuator of the parking brake mechanism no longer allows the stopping pin to be correctly placed in the ‘P lock’ position. Possible consequences: - When the parking brake is applied in the following situations it may not properly engage (but without alerting the driver): when the P button is pressed on the transmission selector, when the engine is switched off, when the driver’s safety-belt is released or when the driver door is opened. However, the Assisted Parking Brake (APB) engages when the engine is switched off or when the driver door is opened and allows the vehicle to be immobilised without any action on the part of the driver.

There are 2 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 12 April 2024 to 07 May 2025.
