The products present a risk to health as the sand may contain asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance across the EU because it poses a risk to health. HSE Public Health advice is that there is low risk to human health from these sand products based on current information.
The brand is Galt. The model number is 1005467. The barcode is 011979623812. The batch number is 017313.
The products were made available via the following retailers; Books on the Green, Mulveys House of Gifts Ltd, Nutley Newsagents, Power Providers Ltd and Toymaster.
What to do:
The CCPC is advising consumers who have the product in their home to do the following:
- Stop using the product immediately.
- Place the product in a heavy-duty plastic bag, seal it securely, label it clearly and store it in a secure location out of reach of children.
- If the sand has been used, clean sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a protective FFP2 face mask or equivalent. Do not use a vacuum cleaner for clean-up. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths. Seal it securely, label it clearly and store it in a secure location out of reach of children.
- Prior to disposal contact the place of purchase to request a refund.
